When AudioPen is the right choice

• You use voice as an input method for content you produce — newsletters, journal entries, email drafts, content marketing.
• You want structured reformatting: "turn this rant into three bullet points, then into an email to my team."
• You work cross-platform — AudioPen runs on web, iOS, and Android. VSkip is iOS-only.
• You don't get many inbound voice messages and the "summarize someone else's voice" job barely applies.

When VSkip is the right choice

• You're drowning in inbound WhatsApp / Telegram / iMessage / Signal voice messages from other people.
• You want summaries before listening, not transcripts instead of listening.
• You want sentiment cues (red dot = urgent) so you know what to triage without opening every voice.
• You want a daily evening digest that batches the day's voices into one catch-up session.
• You want a Home Screen widget so you can glance at today's voices without opening an app.
• You want to chat with the summary ("did they mention a deadline?") without re-listening.

Can you use both?

Absolutely. They live in different corners of your workflow:

• Morning shower thoughts → AudioPen → polished email draft
• Your boss's 9-minute Friday-night voice note → VSkip → 3-line summary with "send report by Monday" as an action item

We don't try to be AudioPen. AudioPen doesn't try to be VSkip. If voice-as-input and voice-as-input are both part of your life, you probably want one of each.

Honest limitations of VSkip

• iOS only. AudioPen has Android + web, we don't.
• Voice messages up to 2 min on trial, 30 min on paid. AudioPen handles longer sessions because its primary use case is long-form dictation.
• Our dictation feature is intentionally lightweight — AudioPen has a deeper rewriting stack for dictation-as-content workflows.
• Cloud processing required (Groq for Whisper + Llama). AudioPen is also cloud-based; both require internet.

Honest limitations of AudioPen

• No messenger integration. If your main use case is "someone sent me a voice on WhatsApp", AudioPen has no workflow for that.
• No daily digest, no Home Screen widget, no Back Tap integration — those only make sense when you have a continuous stream of inbound voices to surface.
• Account-based. VSkip is no-signup / no-email / random-device-ID.
• Sentiment and urgency-cueing aren't part of the AudioPen flow because you're recording your own voice; you already know your own mood.
