VSkip - Voice Message Summary

    TL;DR: VSkip does not collect personal data, does not require an account, and deletes your audio immediately after processing. We send audio content to a third-party AI provider (Groq) only after you explicitly consent in the app. VSkip is free: there are no subscriptions or in-app purchases. We cannot identify you.

1. What VSkip Does

VSkip summarizes voice messages from WhatsApp, Telegram, iMessage, and other messengers. You share a voice message with VSkip, and it returns a text summary.

2. Data We Process and Send to Third-Party AI

What is sent: When you submit a voice message, the audio file and its transcribed text are sent from your device to our server, and from our server to a third-party AI provider for processing. No other information about you (such as Apple ID, contacts, or device identifiers tied to you) is sent with the data.

Who receives it: Groq, Inc. (California, USA) hosts the speech-to-text model (Whisper Large V3) and the large language model (GPT-OSS 120B, an open-weight model) used by VSkip for summaries, replies and AI chat. Per Groq's API policy, your inputs are not used to train models. See Groq's Privacy Policy.

Why it is sent: Only to produce the transcription and summary that VSkip returns to you. The data is not used for any other purpose.

Your consent: VSkip will not send any audio or transcribed text to the provider until you have explicitly agreed in the in-app AI Processing Notice. You can revoke this consent at any time in Settings → Privacy & Legal → AI processing. If consent is revoked, features that require the AI service (voice summarization, AI chat, text reply generation) will stop working until you re-enable it.

Retention: The audio file is deleted from our server immediately after processing. We do not store transcriptions or summaries on our servers.

Device identifier. We use a randomly generated device ID (stored locally on your device) to protect the service from abuse (rate limiting). This ID is not linked to your name, Apple ID, or any personal information.

3. Data We Store on Our Server

Rate limit counters — your device ID and the number of requests made today, used only to protect the service from abuse. Resets daily.
Anonymous usage events — event type (e.g., "summary_created"), timestamp, and device ID. No message content is stored.

We do not store transcriptions, summaries, voice messages, or any content you process through VSkip.

4. Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device (in App Group shared storage) and is never sent to our servers:

Summary history (transcriptions, summaries, favorites)
Time saved statistics
Settings (font preference, playback speed)

5. Third-Party Services

VSkip uses the following third-party services. Each is described with what data is sent, who receives it, and why.

Groq, Inc. (groq.com, California, USA) — speech-to-text transcription (Whisper Large V3) and text summarization (GPT-OSS 120B). We send the audio you submit and its transcribed text. We send this only with your explicit in-app consent (see Section 2). See Groq's Privacy Policy.
Fly.io — hosting provider for our server. All data transits through the Fly.io network in transit but is not logged or stored beyond what is strictly required to complete your request. See Fly.io's Privacy Policy.

We do not use any advertising SDKs, analytics frameworks, or tracking services.

6. Telegram Bot

If you use the VSkip Telegram Bot, your Telegram user ID is used for rate limiting. We do not access your Telegram profile, contacts, or message history. Voice messages forwarded to the bot are processed and immediately deleted, same as the iOS app.

7. No Account Required

VSkip does not require registration, login, email, or any personal information. There is no user account.

8. Payments

VSkip is free. There are no subscriptions or in-app purchases, and we never ask for or process payment details.

9. Children's Privacy

VSkip is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect data from children. Since we collect no personal data from anyone, this applies equally to all users.

10. Data Retention

Audio files: Deleted immediately after processing (not stored).
Rate limit data: Resets daily.
Usage events: Retained for up to 90 days, then deleted.
On-device data: Persists until you delete the app.

11. Your Rights

Since we do not collect personal data or maintain user accounts, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete on our servers. Your on-device data can be deleted by removing the app.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of VSkip after changes constitutes acceptance.
